While everyone is talking about the big budget movies set to hit out screens in 2015 such as Avengers:Age of Ultron and Jurassic World it’s also worth considering possible little gems that you should keep an eye out for in 2015.

First off there is Welcome to Me, a comedy/drama produced by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay and starring Kristen Wiig and James Marsden. Wiig plays Alice Klieg, a woman with Borderline Personality Disorder who wins a huge lotto jackpot and decides to quit her meds and start her own talk show. The trailer looks as though this is Wiig in her element, fans of SNL will know she is a dab hand at the more quirky roles and it looks like there will be a lot of laughs in this along with some big heart in dealing with mental illness.

The film is due to be released this Summer.

Next is another film set to deal with mental illnesses this time in the shape of The Road Within which stars our very own Robert Sheehan as Vincent, a young guy with Tourette’s Syndrome.  His co-stars are Dev Patel and Zoe Kravitz. The film is an American re-make of sorts of German movie, ‘Vincent Wants to Sea’ and is about three twenty somethings, each with this own illness, going on a road trip. The trailer looks cute and has that indie feel which is so very hot right now. I imagine this one won’t blow people away but will be a an enjoyable ride and worth a watch. Sheehan seems to be earning praise for his acting in it as well so give it a chance!

The film is set for release later this Spring/Summer.

Next is an odd choice for me as initially when I saw the title and synopsis of the film I cringed, as I image you will too. However, on watching the trailer my mind has been opened to this one. It is called Hot Pursuit (originally called Don’t Mess With Texas) and that alone sounds terrible, add in the fact that it stars Reece Witherspoon as a cop trying to protect Sofia Vergara and you can see why this thing seemed like a bad idea. But what you get from the trailer is this throw back, odd couple, buddy movie with two female leads who can actually carry a movie. I am by no means suggesting this will be award winning fare but I dare say it might get a couple of giggles, perfect for a lazy duvet day.

This looks like it will be just silly, harmless fun and has a Summer release date.

Next, a whole host of names including Bill Murray, Bradley Cooper, Alec Baldwin, Danny McBride, Emma Stone and Rachel McAdams star in Aloha. It’s hard to know what to make of this trailer, the film seems to be a hodge podge of clichés but if the film is aware of the clichés and plays off that with humour, this could be a hidden gem as the casting is strong. It is about a rom/com in which a defence contractor who falls for Allison Ng an Air Force Watchdog, played by Emma Stone. This one seems like it could be a disaster or it could be a decent, easy watch.

It is due for release later this year.

And that’s a run down of trailers so far. If you have any movie suggestions be sure to drop a comment and let us know what your looking forward to seeing in the cinema this year!
