Born in Japan and raised in Killarney, Amano is a remarkably talented up and coming singer/songwriter on the Irish music scene. She originally developed a taste for composing and performing her own material after she began posting Youtube videos showcasing her skills, prompting her to hit the live circuit in July 2013. Since then, she has taken to the stage at venues all around the country, from Cork to Limerick and even at Dublin’s renowned Academy 2.
Dividing her time between her music career and being a student of Trinity College, Amano has been enjoying quite a successful year so far. Not only was she chosen by Hot Press Magazine as one of their “Hot for 2015” artists, she was also awarded the opportunity to record at Lamplight Studios by Guinness Amplify. Working with producer Jack Glacken and engineer Stephen Dunne, this led to the creation of her forthcoming debut single, “Skies”.
Beginning with a solemn acoustic riff, it immediately stirs emotion before a wonderfully warm and affecting harmony grabs the spotlight. The vibrant vocals stun with their power as they take over the senses and captivate completely. Subtle instrumentation grows beautifully as it progresses, helping to generate an atmosphere rich with passion and poignancy. Things remain incredibly moving as the piece builds to an immense, transcendent climax that inspires awe as it washes over you.
This gorgeous folk/pop ballad astonishes and enthralls throughout, making a forceful impact. The spectacular vocal work and restrained but accomplished instrumentation are an absolute delight to listen to. With its extremely accessible and amiable sound, her inaugural effort represents an early triumph for Amano. She is an artist who undoubtedly has the potential to go the distance. Make sure you check “Skies” out for yourself on iTunes upon its April 24th release.
