Blade Runner sequel adds Barkhad Abdi to its cast

Although it has yet to have a confirmed title, the sequel to the cult classic Blade Runner has added yet another huge name to its ever growing cast. The latest recruit to the sequel, which Harrison Ford will star in, is Eye In The Sky’s Barkhad Abdi. Of course, many will be more familiar with Abdi for his portrayal of Muse in Captain Phillips.

It is yet unknown as to what role Barkhad Abdi will play, which is to be expected considering that even the plot of the movie has yet to be revealed. The only snippet of information that we have is we can expect the sequel to be set several decades after Ridley Scott’s 1982 blockbuster.

Abdi joins Ryan Gosling, Dave Bautista, Robin Wright, Ana de Armas, Mackenzie Davis, Carla Juri and Sylvia Hoeks. A script by Hampton Fancher (Blade Runner) and Michael Green (Gotham, Heroes) has apparently been signed off on, with filming expected to begin sometime next month. Expect the sequel to hit cinema screens in October of next year.
