The Fontaines are a four-piece indie rock band from Sheffield. The band is made up of Joe St Ledger, Alex Tood, Tom Nugent and Oliver Clark.

Their latest single “Your Coat” is undeniably upbeat and uplifting. A perfect tune to chill out to on those lazy summer evenings. Lead singer Joe St. Ledger has a distinctive deep voice with lyrics that are basically about your usual young-ish subjects. The Fontaines instrumentation has a touch of Vampire Weekend, and pop-punk influences also linger. “Your Coat” is full to the brim with sweet guitars, punchy drums and pop rock basslines.

The three minute song unveils a cool, clean sensibility. A clever mix of catchy indie pop, the hooks in this track are bound to get stuck in your head too. “Your Coat” is a safe indie song, nothing too experimental and perhaps they are trying to recreate a particular indie style. We are definitely interested to see what they’ll come up with next. Will they look for new territory to explore, or continue to play it safe with familiar but nonetheless catchy indie pop tunes? Only time will tell.
