Although it doesn’t hit Irish cinemas until August 5th, the hype surrounding the release of Suicide Squad is already at fever pitch. A lot of that has to do with Margot Robbie’s portrayal of Harley Quinn and the powers that be over at Warner Bros. and DC are reportedly hoping to cash in.

According to The Hollywood Reporter’s sources, the development of a standalone feature is currently underway for the character.  However, it won’t just be all about Harley. Instead, it will focus on a variety of female heroes and villains from the DC Universe, such as Power Girl, Huntress, Poison Ivy, Catwoman and Wonder Woman to name but a few of the potential characters that could make an appearance.

The interest in such a project has been spurred on by Robbie herself, thanks in large to her dedication to the character and the vast array of research she did in order to land the role of Harley Quinn.  As of writing, however, details on such a project are few and far between as both Warner and DC are keeping their cards very close to their chest in their ongoing bid to one up Marvel.

In the meantime, as mentioned Suicide Squad will hit screens nationwide on August 5th, followed by Wonder Woman on June 2nd 2017 and finally the first of the Justice League movies on November 7th of the same year.
