Javier Bardem in talks to play Frankenstein’s Monster

Chances are that if you want a hulking villain for your film, well then Javier Bardem is the go to actor. From Anton Chigurh (No Country For Old Men), Raoul Silva (Skyfall) to Captain Salazar in the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Bardem has quite the niche for portraying the antagonist in major movies and looks set to continue this trend if reports from Variety are to be believed.

The magazine is reporting that Universal are eager to land Bardem as Frankenstein’s Monster for their new upcoming shared monster universe. If Bardem does indeed sign on the dotted line, then he will be the latest major name to join Alex Kurtzman and Chris Morgan’s monster franchise, which will see various classic monsters return to the big screen.

Kurtzman is already busy filming The Mummy, which stars Tom Cruise, Russell Crowe and Sofia Boutella. Interestingly enough, Bardem was originally offered the role of Dr. Jekyll but turned it down, with Russell Crowe landing the role instead.

Two other Hollywood stars which are currently being touted are Johnny Depp as the Invisible Man and Angelina Jolie as the Bride of Frankenstein, providing the as-of-yet untitled Frankenstein movie is a success of course.
