John Krasinski to star in sci-fi thriller God Particle

Having gained quite the reputation as a comedic talent due to his performance in the US version of The Office, John Krasinski has been branching out into more serious roles such as 2012’s Promised Lands and more recently in 13 Hours. Krasinski’s latest dramatic venture will be in the upcoming sci-fi thriller God Particle, with acclaimed director JJ Abrams producing.

It’s been quite the struggle for Oren Uziel, whose script was thrown into a state of purgatory following the closure of Paramount’s InSurge low-budget branch. However, Uziel’s project is once again in the works thanks to Abrams’ Bad Robot production company now at the helm.

Not much is known about God Particle other than astronauts aboard the International Space Station make a terrifying discovery, one which threatens to forever morph our perception of reality due to a botched experiment conducted in the Large Hadron Collider.

Other names currently signed to star alongside John Krasinski are Gugu Mbatha-Raw and David Oyelowo, with Julius Onah on directing duties.

Shooting is scheduled to begin later this year with a release date penned for February of next year. In the meantime, you can catch Krasinski in his feature length directorial debut The Hollars, released Stateside on August 12 and voice acting alongside his wife Emily Blunt in animated adventure Animal Crackers, out next year.
