Jessica Chastain (Zero Dark Thirty) is set to star as Elizabeth Sloane, a fierce lobbyist entangled in the brutal campaign of gun ownership in America. A teaser trailer for Miss Sloane dropped last week and the opening evokes the ruthless determination of Sloane as she invites viewers into the corrupt Capitol and showcases the steel needed to play the game of lobbying.

The trailer gives plenty of hints as to what to expect from the upcoming movie. From vicious opponents to callous sacrifice, Miss Sloane looks to be an intense political thriller which exposes what really happens in Washington. Sloane is “hired to win” and will stop at nothing until she achieves victory, though perhaps her resolve will force her to sacrifice more than it is worth.

The trailer moves at a quick pace, a reflection of the upcoming picture, and it is laden with many sinister threats and dark looks. Chastain’s cold expression and lifeless tone defines her character’s grit, as powerful head to head confrontations are promised in a race which is fought with no mercy.

John Madden (The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel) directs the script written by Jonathan Perera. Madden claims to have thought immediately of Chastain upon reading the script and he compliments the actress’s range; “…from tremendous strength and drive on the one hand and fragility and vulnerability on the other”, it seems he was excited to work with her.

Chastain is of course a strong lead for a movie, but she is joined with a mouth-watering cast of actors. Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Concussion) and Mark Strong (The Imitation Game) join Chastain in what will surely be an enthralling film. Heats will rise and tensions will crack in a thriller which promises a good watch.

Miss Sloane will be released on the 9th of December.
