Ninet Tayeb Makes US Debut!

Israel has been keeping a dark secret from the world recently, they have an undeniable amount of talent hiding there. One of these hidden gems is the stunning Ninet Tayeb. Ninet has become one of the most successful and infectious female artists in her native country, and she’s now gearing up for the release of her fifth studio album worldwide. You may not have heard of her, but the truth is, you really should have. She is considered to be the “most famous person in the Israeli entertainment business” and with multiple awards under belt, including two MTV Europe Music Awards, it’s clear she isn’t playing any games. Ninet’s middle-eastern husky-rock sound is quite refreshing in a world dominated by Pop Music and has allowed her to share stages with the likes of Jesus and the Marry Chain, Cyndi Lauper, and Robbie Williams to name a few. For someone of a small stature. She has an exceptionally big voice!

She debuted the first taste of her eagerly awaited new album on AllMusic this week with a song named “Child”. The track opens with an almost Enya-esque sound to it, but you quickly begin to realize that this is nothing like Enya. Her haunting vocals are backed by clever production work and energy fulfilling beats. The song transitions through many genres in the 3 minutes 51 seconds, which can be risky in today’s market, but means she’s catering to many ears.

Having seen Ninet perform in a small underground venue in NYC’s East Village during CMJ 2015 this year, it’s safe to say that the entire audience was fixated and almost hypnotized by her presence. In preparation for 2016, Ninet is already scheduled to return to the US. She’ll be playing dates all over the country with Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree) and has already been selected to perform at SXSW in March of next year. With a sound like this, it makes me excited to see what’s in store with the new album.
