Of Empires

Of Empires, are a Brighton based four-piece rock band. Stranger Sensations is their 3 track debut EP, and after a first listen there is no doubt in my view this band is heading for success.

Gimme What I Need is the first track on the EP, laid back with an indie rock melody and lazy thumping beats. This is catchy without being overdone, a lot of bands make the mistake of overplaying a melody or chorus to pull you in. Of Empires have the ingredients just right in their opening track.

I Want You To Get Mad, another radio friendly tune for sure. The song is slightly darker, it has got rock ‘n’ roll elements with some taunting guitar melodies and licks.

Stranger, this is more of an anthem tune and would go down well with festival revelers. Again, the band has come up tops with producing another fine tune. This EP for me is like a teaser of what has to come from this superb Brighton band.

The EP was recorded earlier this year at The Toy Rooms in Brighton – a vintage recording studio whose former clients include legendary Nick Cave. Engineered by Ben Thackeray (Oasis, Jamie Cullum); mixed by Jon Gray (The Kooks, The Subways, Editors).

You will have to wait till 30th of September to get your hands on the EP!  Of Empires’ next show is at Oxjam Brighton Takeover Festival, 18th Oct and will be playing throughout Oct, Nov, Dec across the UK to be announced very soon.
