Persona 5 has been receiving unanimously glowing reviews following its official release. The sought after social simulator/dungeon crawler has turned the gaming media into a gushing mess. With only Zelda: Breath of the Wild garnering higher praise, Persona 5 (P5) finds itself as runner-up for the most celebrated game of the year, so far.

Of course, JRPGs aren’t for everyone, but even the most cynical critic must admit that, visually, P5 is something very special. If you don’t believe us, give the launch trailer a peek below.

As the previous iteration was originally a PS2 title, it’s an absolute treat to see the folks at Atlus take full advantage of the PS4’s capabilities. Marrying Catherine’s striking, idiosyncratic visuals with Persona’s ridiculously addictive gameplay makes for a powerful partnership.

You can expect a full review from PureM in the coming days.

Persona 5 is available now on PS3 and PS4.
