Pure M Picks – July 19th

Get up, stand up, don’t give up the fight dear readers. The summer has ended it seems (for now) but you know what will never end? That’s right, the Pure M Picks. It’s our twelfth edition and yet another fine bunch.

Track of the week is “Dig Up” from After the Ibis.

After the Ibis – Dig Up

Rising reggae stars After the Ibis have struck gold with “Dig Up”. Not so much a song, as an enthralling musical journey. Wonderful.

Kori – Frankenstein

The French band have created a stunning indie album with Melancholic Debauchery. Gloomy vocals and an oppressive atmosphere combine very well on “Frankenstein”.

The Equatorial Group – Wrong Song

The chilled-out track from the British group shows that simplicity can be the most effective tool in songwriting.

Triptik Empire – Requiem for a Swing

A feisty, genre-bending track from the alt. metalers. The highlight of their new EP The Age of Mistakes.

Wozniak – Gospel of Infinity

An epic, war-like anthem with some groovy bass lines and cutting guitar. The Scottish band’s speciality.

Sample Answer – Good Boy

The title track from the Dublin native is fantastic, positive, and an all-round joy. His new EP is out next week.

The Ground Will Shake – Rolling Sixteen

It’s got a driving rhythm that makes it impossible not to move to, and is a great taster for their forthcoming album.

Moving to Ireland two years ago, the Finnish man has brought some classic American rock back to our attention.

Old Man Luedecke – Early Days

Our reviewer Maycon Dimas was very impressed with the Canadian songwriter’s new album, and here’s why. It’s out next week and it’s thoroughly enjoyable.

Commonly found in charity shops and flea markets, Jason still harbours an ambition to be the first man to win the FA Cup and Oscar for Best Actor double in the same year.
