It will come as no surprise that lately Hollywood has gone a bit re-boot crazy, Jurassic World, Ghostbusters, Star Wars, … etc etc. And with rumblings of a re-boot of Indiana Jones on the horizon starring Chris Pratt, it now appears Hollywood is deciding to introduce a little horror into the proceedings.
USA Today got hold of some teaser images from the upcoming re-make and posted them today. The film is set to be released later this year with America getting a July release, and it looks as though those demons will reaching straight out of the screen at you for real as it is going to be released in 3-D.
The director is Gil Kenan who is known for Monster House while Sam Raimi is a producer, Raimi is known for projects such as Xena Warrior Princess, The Grudge and… Spiderman 3, so lower those expectations people!
Sam Rockwell and Rosemarie DeWitt are the two stand out names on the casting page, Rockwell has particularly shone for me in roles such as Billy in Seven Psychopaths so there may be some glimmer of hope and perhaps it’s best to save judgement for the official first look trailer due out this Thursday.
As for the movie itself, Raimi and Kenan are suggesting the film will not totally ignore it’s roots and will instead be a modernized version of the 1982 original. With plenty more screens in the average home nowadays things could get pretty interesting, imagine a possessed little Angry Bird flying out from your smartphone!
And of course, the re-make will feature the obligatory creepy little girl and extra creepy clown doll, a must have for any fright fest!
You can check out the USA Today article here and of course we will feature the trailer as soon as it hits the web with a closer look to follow!
