Dublin’s North-side band The Rattling Kind, have dropped an ace track titled Open Letter. Without even trying to throw bouquets of lyrical bullshit at the lads, Open Letter has to be the song of the year!
The band doesn’t even bother sticking to any rules with their sound, they explore dark folk tones that border on a rock edge without getting lost in the music. Lead singer Eddie Sherlock injects rich, raw, passionate vocals pulled straight from his heart into Open Letter.
The Rattling Kind are either a clever folk band that knows how to mold a good song or they have the sheer talent and ability to craft a decent sound like they’ve done in Open Letter..
Open Letter for me, is a perfect example of a well-crafted superb song from one of the hardest working bands to emerge from Dublin, The Rattling Kind.
The Rattling Kind are running a benefit night on Friday 24 October in The Mercantile venue on Dame Street.
They are donating all proceeds from their gig. The proceeds will go to Aware, who offer support and information to those suffering from depression and anxiety disorders.
Describing their new track they said:
The song explores the anger, confusion and feeling of helplessness experienced by those who have seen depression and substance abuse take the life of a loved one.
