Seventies revivalist Ty Segall, joins forces with Dale Crover of Melvins and Steven McDonald of OFF!, to form the super-group Broken Bat.
The singer is a fairly prolific musician, releasing a steady string of records since his debut album Ty Segall in 2008. The Bay Area rocker is also a member of a number of other groups, including Fuzz, The Traditional Fools, Epsilons, Party Fowl, Sic Alps, The Perverts, as well the Ty Segall Band.
Broken Bat have already shared a taste of their sound on Bandcamp. The song titled ‘Take My Medicine’, may be labelled with the tags ‘rap’ & ‘hip-hop’, however the sound is anything but. ‘Take My Medicine’ is a heavy, loud, grimy, track that features very different vocals than any of Ty’s other projects.

Ty Segall’s musical style draws from Bowie, Black Sabbath, The Stooges and The Beatles. His latest solo album titled Manipulator, is Ty’s seventh solo release. Manipulator’s been compared to David Bowie’s Diamond Dogs, the New York Dolls’ Too Much Too Soon and Neil Young’s On The Beach.
A few days ago, Ty Segall unveiled a new song during a gig at the Mercury Lounge in New York (@3.10) and check out the album teaser for Manipulator below.
