After what has felt like an eternity or a musical drought, Kesha has returned with brand new material. The singer debuted attention-grabbing new video for “Praying” early this morning, along with news that fans have been holding out for: a new album, titled ‘Rainbow’.
“Am I dead? Or is this one of those dreams? Those horrible dreams that seem like they last forever? If I am alive, why? Why? If there is a God or whatever, something, somewhere, why have I been abandoned by everyone and everything I’ve ever known? I’ve ever loved?,” the singer/songwriter asks during the intro to the video for ‘Praying’.
Directed by world renowned music video auteur Jonas Akerlund, the new visual pays homage to the Kesha we all remember. Kesha also shows us both growth and maturity in her art. ‘Praying’ comes as the first official release from the ‘Tik Tok’ singer since her legal battles with Dr. Luke began. Fans have waited years for Kesha to release new music but under contract, she wasn’t able to. Finally, the wait is over and she does not disappoint.
The song, co-written by Kesha, Ryan Lewis (Macklemore & Ryan Lewis), Ben Abraham and Andrew Joslyn along with Lewis producing the track, the blonde warrior shows she’s still very relevant. ‘Rainbow’ comes out August 11.
