Introducing Opāru: the stunning musical endeavor of Los Angeles based songwriter, singer and actress Dianna St. Hilaire. Opāru music can be described as haunting electro with a dark ethereal undertone. Combined with dream-like operatic vocals,

Hailing from Albuquerque, New Mexico, Dianna started to write and perform music at an early age both in choir and musicals. Self taught, her first instrument was the piano and she worked tirelessly at the craft of reading and writing music. Later in life, she began performing with punk bands and with producers as a back up and a studio vocalist in New Mexico, where she took on her first musical alias, the highly successful group Versailles.

While teaming with the infamous Kim Fowley (The Runaways, Kiss, Joan Jett, Alice Cooper), she has toured the US extensively over the years and has been featured on Grammy ballots, as well as charting on Billboard.

After a reinvention in 2015, she began working under the new name Opāru which derives from the Japanese name of the birthstone opal. Opāru’s roots stem from experimental electronic, 80s synth pop, and alternative rock.

“The music represents pure animalistic human emotion”, says St. Hilaire. “It epitomizes what it is like to be human by transcending the human experience with self discovery and acceptance of who we are on an emotional level.”

After the success of her first release “Remember Me:, Opāru is back with a new single, ‘The Deep End’. A love song to her beloved which admires the strengths and the flaws in a relationship, but most importantly focuses on the depth of what most people attempt to attain in their lifetime

Opāru says that “The Deep End” is about a unique equality between two people on an emotional and physical level. Our survivability paired with our own hopes and dreams and how we can make them a reality for each other by helping one another to change the world”.

Combining both heartfelt lyricism, haunting pop melodies and dark experimental synthesizers, ‘The Deep End’ succeeds in drawing feelings of hope and admiration to the listener.

To accompany the release of ‘The Deep End’, Opāru released a new lyric video which premiered on The Huffington Post this week.

The video portrays beautiful aspects of nature as well as an urban landscape. With stunning visuals of nature, the hustle & bustle of a city, the video highlights the importance of having compassion for all living things and to remember to be mindful of our inner animal.
