The trio are joined by Alex Borwick and Patrick Hopkins for most of their live shows, enabling TYF to fully flex their musical muscle. Each of the songwriters has a radio-friendly track on the album: Home by Tony McLoughlin, When Morning Came by Anthony Furey and Through the Wilderness penned by Paul Butler.
First Sign of Morning is the new studio album is a collection of deeply personal songs providing insights into the core values of the songwriters’ lives – including their strong commitment to family, friends, the importance of home, relationships and a sense of belonging. Each song on this album is a story from the songwriter’s life, a tradition that runs deep in The Young Folk’s veins.
Home is the first single released from First Sign of Morning, writtenby bassist Tony McLoughlin and sung by Anthony Furey. Hometouches on the struggles of a transient lifestyle on the fringes of society, yet desiring everyday human needs: love, family, acceptance and well- being. Home is a song about displacement and longing for the place one can call home, and has a wide context given Europe’s refugee crisis. Home also focuses on personal love, ‘so far away fromhome, so far away from where home ought to be… And I’d really like to find the riches of your heart, I’d like to discover us sailing on the same chart and hitch our land together washed up on a sunken dream.’
